medical lasers [Dec. 13th, 2006|01:50 am]
Writing and Technology
Today’s medical society is drastically improving with every technological innovation that comes along. Doctors can monitor patients more thoroughly than they have ever been able to with the monitoring systems that check the vital health statistics of their patients. They can perform surgeries that they previously not been able to do so with as much precision and positive outcomes. Medicines are advancing greatly, allowing they are allowing the terminally ill to live far beyond the life span of those persons who were stricken with the same illness years ago. Some say that modern medicines are allowing for the weaker of the human race to survive, essentially playing with Darwin’s theory of the survival of the fittest. Lasers are another modern marvel and technological innovation to the field of medicine. Lasers can be used in many different ways for many different reasons. Optometrists use lasers to correct a patient’s vision back to an acceptable point. Dentists use lasers for whitening their patients’ teeth; they can also be used in place of the drill for removing cavities. Surgeons can use lasers to make incisions in their patients when they operate. All previously could be completed without the use of lasers, however lasers have lead to a more “humane” way of accomplishing the same tasks. Less painful, less messy, less time, more accurate.
