Writing and Technology
GPS. Global positioning system. Many cell phones today have it, many cars have it. Airplanes and boats have utilized it for years, but we “ground” people are just beginning to venture into the realm of the technology. Companies such as Wal-Mart are using it to track their goods while en route from their distribution centers to their stores across America. They use it in the form of RFID. Radio Frequency Identification. They can track their goods whereabouts anywhere as long as they have a tracking device. The government can use GPS devices for many reasons. The military can use it to track planes, boats, vehicles, and personnel. GPS would especially come in handy in the event of a plane or boat wreck and they needed to find the location of those who are stranded. The coast guard uses it to track boats out to sea. The departments of the FBI, DEA, and CIA can use it for virtually anything they desire. The sky is the limit for them, they may be spying on you and I as you are reading this! This technology has allowed for “big brother” to keep tabs on the general population in a manor most feel is intrusive at best, and unconstitutional at worst.
